The 1:32 gap she built over Pang was decisive and earned.

Bryan Pang's race had a very different shape. She was the aggressor in the early miles, rocketing from 111th to 79th among women through the 5.55–6.52 Mile segment — the 41st-fastest women's split on that stretch. But the pace came at a cost. By mile 18 she had slipped back to 120th among women, and the 3:44:53 she crossed the line with, while good for second in the F60-64 field, reflected a race that burned bright and then had to manage home.

Rhonda Glass made her move in the back half of the course, where the San Francisco hills do their worst.
