Dayton, Ohio's Bella Butler made this one look easy. The 18-year-old led wire-to-wire, never relinquishing her top spot among the 345-woman field, and posted the fastest 10K→Finish split of any woman on the course. Her 1:19:13 at 6:03/mi wasn't just a win — it was a statement, with a margin of more than ten minutes over the rest of the field in warm, blustery December conditions (70°F, 17 mph winds, 76% humidity that made every pace feel harder than it looked).

Behind her, the real drama was a two-woman fight for the podium. Louisville's Corrie Kenney claimed 2nd in 1:29:15 (6:48/mi), running the second-fastest closing split among women. Natosha Crisco of Sherwood, Arkansas pushed hard for the final step of the podium — her 6:51/mi average good for the third-fastest closing split — but Kenney held 34 seconds of daylight at the line. Close, but not close enough.

The race's most decisive position swing came from Amanda Leblanc, also of Louisville, who entered the 10K mark in 5th and finished 4th, running down Monica Lopez in the process. Leblanc's 6:58/mi closing effort produced the 4th-fastest women's split on that segment, while Lopez — also 18, out of Plainfield, Illinois — faded just slightly at 7:02/mi to settle for 5th in 1:32:15. A meaningful difference in pace, and Leblanc made it count.

Further back, Birmingham's Linda Bowen deserves a special mention: 12th in 1:41:37 here, and 3rd among women in the event's 5K on the same weekend. Racing twice and placing in both takes a particular kind of toughness, and Bowen delivered.
