• Daniel Bruce and Andrew Loveless finished 17th and 18th in identical displayed times of 3:27:42 and 3:27:44 — just two seconds separating them after nearly three and a half hours of racing.

William Conner never relinquished control. The 35-year-old from Santa Clara sat 1st among the men at every checkpoint and backed it up with the fastest Skyline→Toro Creek split in the field — a stretch that effectively turned this into a race for the remaining spots on the podium. His 1:48:56 finish at a 7:01/mi clip on Fort Ord's technical terrain was the defining performance of the M30-39 group.

Behind him, Ilan Dreyfuss moved methodically through the field, climbing from 3rd at the first checkpoint to 2nd by Skyline→Toro Creek and holding that position to the tape. His 2nd-fastest Skyline→Toro Creek split confirmed he was the strongest challenger on that segment — just not enough to threaten Conner's early advantage.

The most compelling subplot belonged to Nills Franssens. Starting deep in the pack, the 34-year-old from Redwood City was 20th among the men early on, then 14th at the midpoint, and ultimately 3rd at the finish in 2:20:35. His 6th-fastest Toro Creek→Finish split was the engine of that charge, and it earned him the final podium spot. Vadim Olshansky (2:29:40) and John Sabol (2:31:54) rounded out the top five, separated by just over two minutes across a 22-man M30-39 field that stretched all the way to 3:38:47 at 20th place.
