Steven Ockerbloom, 51, from Granby, CT, turned the M50-59 race into a solo effort. His 1:25:38 finish at a 17:08/mi average — across a course that climbs through high-elevation terrain ranging above 7,000 feet — was simply in a different register from everyone else in the field. Whether Ockerbloom arrived acclimatized to Tahoe's thin air or simply ran within himself exceptionally well, the 18-minute gap to second place tells the clearest story of the day.

Behind him, Christopher Segler and Brian Campagna waged the afternoon's sharpest duel. Segler, 58, from San Francisco, held off Campagna, 54, from Napa, by just 25 seconds — 1:43:51 to 1:44:16 — over a course that punishes any small lapse in pacing. Given the altitude and the warm 70°F conditions, holding that margin across the full distance reflects real competitive focus from both men.

Further down, Chris Jones and Todd Glieden ran nearly identical races to claim 4th and 5th, finishing 53 seconds apart. Robert Song (6th, 1:54:58) and Kevin Skiles (7th, 1:58:42) rounded out a tight mid-pack cluster, with all five of those athletes finishing within about six and a half minutes of each other. Keith Clayton crossed 8th in 2:03:36, completing the front group before a significant gap opened to the final three — Erik Jensen, Josh Amato, and Armando Enriquez — who all finished between 3:12 and 3:17, remarkably close together in their own quiet battle at the back of the field.
