American River 50 Miler 10-Miler: Wroblewski leads the F60-69 group wire to wire

• Tina Wroblewski won the F60-69 age group in 2:18:49 (13:53/mi), finishing 16th among women overall.
• Susan Moser, a local from Auburn, was 2nd in 2:25:29 — 6:40 back of Wroblewski.
• Jan Jones and Jan Svahn staged the race's tightest battle: Jones took 4th in 2:43:25, with Svahn just 3 seconds behind in 5th at 2:43:28.
• All 9 women in the F60-69 group finished, spanning a range of just over 1 hour 2 minutes from first to last.

Tina Wroblewski of Roseville made her mark early and held it. Running a steady 13:53 per mile across the 10-mile course in comfortable 61°F conditions, she never relinquished her position among the women, holding 16th place in the women's field from start to finish — including the 16th-fastest women's split on the final Last Gasp–to-Finish segment. That consistency was the story of her race: no drama, just execution.

Susan Moser, racing practically in her backyard in Auburn, ran a solid 14:33/mi to claim 2nd in 2:25:29. Laurel Posey of Cool, CA — at 67 the third-oldest finisher in the group — rounded out the podium in 2:33:01, running 15:18/mi to finish 24th among women.

The afternoon's most gripping subplot unfolded between the two Jans. Jan Jones (69, Roseville) and Jan Svahn (68, Rancho Cucamonga) ran the entire race in lockstep, finishing 4th and 5th in 2:43:25 and 2:43:28 respectively — a gap of just three seconds over 10 miles. Jones held 27th among women to Svahn's 28th, and that order held on the final segment as well, where Jones posted the 28th-fastest women's split and Svahn the 29th.

Ruth Lamphere, Maria Stevens, Marie Chavez, and Beverly Adamson rounded out the field, with Adamson completing the course in 3:20:59 at 20:06/mi. Every one of the nine starters crossed the finish line — a clean sweep for the F60-69 group on a clear spring day along the American River.
