American River 50 Miler 10-Mile: May Simon Ramos Tops the F20-29 Field

• May Simon Ramos won the F20-29 age group in 1:53:49 (11:23/mi), finishing 2nd among all women.
• Laura Klein was just 2:12 back in 2nd, running 1:56:01 at 11:36/mi and holding 3rd among all women throughout.
• Both Ramos and Klein closed hard — she posted the 2nd- and 3rd-fastest women's splits on the final Last Gasp→Finish segment, respectively.
• Four women finished in the F20-29 age group, spanning a range of 55:42 from first to last.

On a clear April morning in Auburn — 61°F, nearly no wind — May Simon Ramos of Rancho Cordova ran a composed, consistent race to take the F20-29 title. Holding 2nd among all women from start to finish, she never wavered in her positioning, and when it mattered most she delivered: her Last Gasp→Finish split was the 2nd-fastest among all women in the race, a strong close to seal the win in 1:53:49.

Right on her heels was Folsom's Laura Klein, who mirrored that steadiness. Klein sat 3rd among the women's field throughout and matched the aggression on the final stretch with the 3rd-fastest women's Last Gasp→Finish split. The gap between them — 2 minutes and 12 seconds — was the tightest battle of the age group, and both women clearly had their best legs under them when the course got hardest.

Anne Le of Orangevale came in 3rd in the age group at 2:07:16, running 12:44/mi and finishing 9th among all women — a solid performance in the middle of the women's field. Amzi Maya of Sunnyvale rounded out the four-woman group in 2:49:31, completing the 10 miles and crossing the line to finish the day.
