Cool, overcast conditions in Bismarck — 58°F with 92% humidity and a light breeze — set the stage for a Masters Women race that came alive in the second half. Lindsay Carl of Kaysville, UT controlled her position through the early miles, sitting 11th among women at multiple checkpoints, then shifted gears. Between miles 16.1 and 18.5 she put up the 3rd-fastest women's split on that segment in the entire field, and by the finish she had climbed to 5th among all women, crossing in 3:41:19 at an 8:26/mi average. That's a decisive, well-timed surge — and it earned her the Masters Women title by more than five minutes.

Heli Uusitalo of Fort Collins, CO ran a composed race of her own, gradually working from 14th to 7th among women and saving something for the late miles — her 6th-fastest women's split on the 21.9M–23.8M stretch showed she was still accelerating at age 58. She finished in 3:46:56 (8:39/mi), a clear 2nd in the Masters Women field. Behind her, the race for 3rd was the tightest battle of the day: Shana Brown (3:53:49, 8:55/mi) and Kay Evans (3:53:53, 8:55/mi) ran nearly the entire race within striking distance of each other. Brown, 55, of Dutch Flat, CA posted the 7th-fastest women's split on the final 23.8M-to-finish segment to hold her ground; Evans, 63, of Chocowinity, NC had been the quicker of the two earlier — posting the 8th-fastest women's split on 16.1M–18.5M — but Brown caught and narrowly passed her in the closing miles, finishing just four seconds ahead.

Ann Heaslett of Madison, WI rounded out the top five in 3:55:50, picking up the 8th-fastest women's split on the 21.9M–23.8M segment to finish 13th among all women. Robin Haynes (4:02:23), Cynthia Metcalf (4:07:28), and Martina Hodges (4:08:50) filled out positions six through eight, with 26 women completing the Masters field in total.
