Alexandra Porter ran a composed, controlled race in the cool, lightly rainy Santa Rosa morning, averaging 6:48/mi across the 6.2 miles to claim the F30-39 title in 42:14. Marie Hernandez (San Francisco) gave chase at 6:52/mi — a meaningfully faster pace than third place — and kept the gap tight enough to make it interesting, but Porter's 24-second cushion at the finish proved she was never truly under threat once she got rolling.

Hernandez's real battle was the one she won: holding off Gretchen Forrey. Tara Vallee (Rohnert Park) was just five seconds back in 12th at 53:24, making that a genuine three-way scrum in the final stretch.
