Cold, damp conditions — 41°F, light rain, and 85% humidity — greeted the 54 finishers in the F25-29 field on race morning, but Aubrey Roberts of Palo Alto was unfazed. Running at 5:51/mi, she crossed in 18:11 to defend the women's title she claimed at this same race in 2023. That prior win came in 18:03, so the conditions may have cost her a handful of seconds, but the result was never in doubt.

What makes Roberts' story richer is who was chasing her — again. Zoe Smith, also of Palo Alto, finished 2nd in 19:18 at 6:13/mi, reprising the exact runner-up role she played in 2023 when she clocked 18:04. Two years, two silver medals, same rival. The gap between them grew from under a second in 2023 to over a minute here — Roberts pulled away decisively while Smith held her position in the field.

Behind Smith, Samantha Bremner of Santa Monica claimed 3rd in 24:08 (7:46/mi), running her own race well clear of the mid-pack cluster that formed around the 26-minute mark. That cluster was genuinely tight: Saulnier (4th, 26:12) and Liang (5th, 26:13) were separated by one second, with Frankel (6th, 26:22) and Crystal Huang (7th, 26:32) close behind. Four runners within 21 seconds made for a compelling battle for the lower podium spots.

Further back, Jessica Micallef (8th, 27:09), Anusha Klinder (9th, 27:30), and Monica Tully (10th, 27:34) rounded out the top ten, with Tully finishing just four seconds behind Klinder to close out a competitive top tier in a 54-woman field.
