James Scanlan turned in a commanding performance across 50 wet, windy miles in Sacramento, leading the men's field from the first checkpoint to the last. Running at 7:43/mi in 51°F rain with 14 mph winds, the 55-year-old from San Francisco crossed in 6:25:33 — a margin of 16:05 over second place. He also posted the fastest men's split on the Out & Back→Lap 1 segment, setting the tone early and never letting anyone into the conversation.

Jacob Rydman (2nd, 6:41:38) held second place wire-to-wire as well, running a steady 8:02/mi to finish as the clear runner-up. Andrew Furillo (3rd, 7:27:04) was equally consistent, sitting third at every checkpoint and closing with the 2nd-fastest men's split on Lap 9→Finish to lock up the podium in 8:56/mi pace.

The real drama in the men's race came from the back half of the top five. Augustine Garcia — 18 years old, out of Oakland — started 6th and methodically picked off places through the middle of the race, cracking the top four by Lap 4 and holding it to the line in 7:47:50. Even more striking was Elliot Block's charge: the 64-year-old from Lahaina, HI entered the second half of the race sitting 10th, then reeled in finisher after finisher to cross 5th in 8:07:32, posting the 4th-fastest men's split on Lap 6→Lap 7 along the way.

Larry Kadoyama (6th, 8:31:42), Numoaki Ngissah (7th, 8:43:43), and James Windust (8th, 9:14:45) rounded out the mid-field, while Ivan Ruiz (9th, 9:33:14), Andrew Le (10th, 9:49:44), Christian Toledo — 17 years old — (11th, 10:01:44), and Hayden Anderson (12th, 10:03:05) completed the 12-man field, with just 81 seconds separating the final two finishers.
