Three women — Lichter (Missoula, MT), Mino Faukner (Truckee, CA), and Moreno (Mammoth Lakes, CA) — covered 46 kilometers of Palisades Tahoe terrain in a window of 76 seconds, racing through light rain and 50°F temperatures on a course that doesn't dip below 6,200 feet. At those altitudes the thin air turns every climb into a negotiation, and all three were still negotiating hard deep into the final hour.

Lichter ran at the front from the gun, holding first among the women through the early checkpoints and into the KT 1→Siberia 1 segment, where she posted the 2nd-fastest women's split of the day. But on the Village→Snow King leg, Mino Faukner — racing on home turf out of Truckee — unleashed the fastest women's split of the entire field on that segment and vaulted into the lead. It was the race's decisive drama: Lichter responded, reclaimed first, and never let it go again, crossing in 4:42:32.

Moreno's story was the comeback. She was 5th among the women through the opening checkpoints, patient and controlled, before beginning a methodical climb through the field. Her fastest women's split on Siberia 2→High Camp was the engine of that surge, pulling her to 3rd by the next check and locking in the podium finish in 4:43:48. Three athletes, three different race shapes — and in the end, 36 seconds of daylight between them.
