• Nicole Buurma won the F40-49 group in 4:53:46 (9:27/mi), finishing 7th among all women — a position she held from the very first checkpoint through the tape.
• Isabel Diaz made the most dramatic move of the age group, climbing from 17th among women at the first checkpoint all the way to 8th by the halfway mark and holding it to the finish in 4:58:23.
• The gap from 1st to 3rd — Buurma, Diaz, and Kenna Brock — spanned just 13:48, while 4th-place Kalani Cullison arrived another 5:23 back at 5:12:57.
• Buurma posted the 4th-fastest women's split on the HWY 49→Finish segment, Diaz the 6th-fastest on ALT→HWY 49, and Brock the 10th-fastest on Quarry→ALT — the podium each had a standout segment to show for it.

Nicole Buurma, 42, from Lynden, WA, ran one of the most composed races in the F40-49 field. She sat 7th among all women at the first checkpoint and never wavered from that spot, crossing in 4:53:46 at a 9:27/mi clip. That kind of wire-to-wire steadiness is rare in a 50K with this much trail terrain, and she punctuated it with the 4th-fastest women's split on the final HWY 49→Finish stretch — closing strong when others were fading.

The most compelling subplot belonged to Isabel Diaz, 40, of San Rafael. She was buried 17th among women early on, but something clicked between the first checkpoint and the ALT segment, where she posted the 6th-fastest women's split in the field. By halfway she had vaulted to 8th among women and stayed there, finishing in 4:58:23 — just 4:37 behind Buurma for the runner-up spot in F40-49.

Kenna Brock, 42, rounded out the podium in 5:07:34, her best segment coming on Quarry→ALT where she ran the 10th-fastest women's split. Kalani Cullison, 46, ran a different kind of race — she was as high as 8th among women through the early going but gradually slipped to 12th by the finish, crossing in 5:12:57. Behind the top four, Jennifer Canvasser completed the top five in 5:36:41, with 22 more F40-49 finishers spread across the rest of the afternoon on a clear, mild day in Cool.
