Lynn Nill made her move incrementally and relentlessly. Starting from well back in the women's field, she climbed from 1,161st among women at the first checkpoint all the way to 941st by the finish — a net gain of 220 places across the race. Her strongest stretch came late: her 24 Miles→Finish split was the 713th-fastest among all women, a sign she was still running with purpose when many others were fading. At 12:32/mi, she paced the F70-74 field from wire to wire and never relinquished the lead.

Wilaiwan Khrisanapant actually ran the stronger 18 Miles→24 Miles split of the two chasers — her 701st-fastest women's split on that stretch edged Maggie Mount's 810th-fastest on the same segment — but Mount had built enough of a cushion earlier in the race that the gap proved too large to close. Mount finished 2nd in 5:42:19, with Khrisanapant crossing in 5:51:35 to complete the three-woman F70-74 field. It was Khrisanapant who was the stronger closer between the two, but the math simply didn't work out in her favor.

Three women, all 70, running 26.2 miles through San Francisco's fog and hills — each one earning her finish on a course that punishes the underprepared. Nill took the win decisively; Mount and Khrisanapant made it a genuine race behind her. In a field of three, every place matters, and all three earned theirs.
