Abby Lock didn't lead early. Sitting 14th among women at the Snow King checkpoint, the Cortez, CO runner unleashed the 7th-fastest women's split on the final stretch to climb all the way to 7th among women at the line — and, more importantly, first in the F20-29 field. Her 50:45 finish at a 23:20/mile average up a course ranging to nearly 8,000 feet on a 91°F afternoon is a performance earned the hard way.

Tabor Hemming had the early edge, sitting 6th among women before Snow King, but faded slightly on the closing segment — dropping to 8th among women — and crossed 8 seconds behind Lock. It was close enough that a slightly stronger finish would have flipped the result. Ellyse Tingelstad, just 21 and racing out of Caldwell, ID, held her composure through the heat and thin air to claim 3rd in 51:09, completing a podium where every athlete averaged faster than 23:32/mile on this relentless climb.

Sydney Petersen and Sarah Carter filled 4th and 5th, both making up ground on the final segment — Petersen moving from 13th to 12th among women, Carter from 17th to 15th — finishing in 52:18 and 53:05 respectively. Behind them, a tight cluster from Andie Cornish through Amanda Wiggenhorn spanned just 51 seconds across places 6 through 9, making the middle of the F20-29 field one of the most competitive stretches of the afternoon.
