Running at 12:07 per mile across 25 miles in 73°F heat, she was never threatened within the F40-49 group and spent the entire race locked in as 2nd among all women in the field. Her 2nd-fastest women's split on the Granite Bay→Rattlesnake Bar segment underscored that her pace wasn't just steady — it was aggressive.

Behind her, the real drama unfolded between Jenn Coyle and Tamara Sutton. Coyle, from Sacramento, was the more consistent mover, climbing from 14th to 10th among women on that same Granite Bay→Rattlesnake Bar leg. Sutton, however, was the late charger — entering the race in 23rd among women and methodically working her way forward, segment by segment, to finish 12th. Her 9th-fastest women's split on Rattlesnake Bar→Last Gasp was the decisive move, but Coyle had just enough cushion to hold 2nd in the age group by under two minutes.

Shiva Amin-Shinnette and Andrea Rogozinski ran nearly identical races, finishing 4th and 5th just 83 seconds apart, both clocking the 12th-fastest women's split on their respective best segments. Theresa Andrews and Rachel Voss rounded out the middle of the pack within a few minutes of each other, while Angelita Sepulveda — completing the course in 7:32:23 — earned her finish on a warm, clear day in Auburn.
