Pedro Luis Sanz Arce ran a measured, controlled race — but the numbers tell a story of a man who never panicked. He entered the men's field around 161st at the first checkpoint and drifted slightly to 163rd before beginning a long, steady climb through the standings. By the time the course crested into its final alpine stages, he had worked his way to 111th among men. He faded a touch to 114th at the finish, but that was irrelevant in M50-54 terms: he had already done enough, crossing in 7:28:20 at 12:02/mi over terrain that tops out near 7,582 feet — thin enough air to test anyone's legs on the climbs.
