He hit 2nd among the men with two checkpoints still to run and never looked back, crossing in Chamonix at 10:27:30 to take the M20-34 title.

Hans Troyer's race tells the opposite story — and it's no less compelling for it. The 26-year-old was the fastest man in the field through the first half, sitting 1st among the men at that checkpoint and again at the third split. But the back half of UTMB has a way of recalibrating ambitions, and Troyer gradually ceded ground, finishing 3rd among the men in 10:33:34. That's a formidable run by any measure — just 6:04 off the winner's pace — and his first-half split remains the fastest men's split of the day on that opening leg.

Behind the top two, a fierce battle raged for the remaining podium spots. Luke Grenfell-Shaw ran a measured, progressive race — never outside the top 10 among the men after the opening checkpoint — and his 3rd-fastest men's split on Trient→Les Tseppes helped him seal 3rd in M20-34 at 11:01:28. Simon Paccard (4th, 11:03:04) and Ji Duo (5th, 11:04:31) kept the pressure on throughout, with Duo posting the 3rd-fastest men's split on Refuge Bertone→Refuge Bonatti.
