The women's race belonged to Ellery Barnes from the first minute. The 18-year-old from Mill Valley ran a composed 6:18/mi average through San Francisco's cool, humid morning — 55°F and overcast — to cross in 19:35, a full 8 seconds clear of Megan Worrel. Worrel, 24, from San Francisco itself, gave chase at 6:21/mi and earned a strong 2nd in 19:43, but Barnes never let the gap close to dangerous territory. Both marks beat the fastest women's times recorded in the two prior editions of this race.

Third place went to Ashlin Mallon, just 15 years old out of Santa Rosa, who ran 20:52 (6:43/mi) to complete a podium with a combined age of 57. Behind her, the race tightened considerably: Ivy Li (4th, 21:28, 6:55/mi) and Gabby Hays (5th, 21:29, 6:55/mi) were separated by a single second — close enough that the timing mats, not the eye, decided it. One name worth noting: Sarah Fadamitan, 43, from Chicago, finished 17th in 25:15 — two years after she placed 8th among women at this same race in 23:31. The conditions and the field were both tougher in 2024, and she made the trip back regardless. Lucy Cheng, 59, closed out the listed finishers in 20th place with a 25:53 (8:20/mi), a sharp effort that anchored a top 20 spanning more than four decades of age.
