Behind her, the race for the rest of the podium was genuinely compelling. Erin Moyer of Washoe Valley, NV held 2nd among women throughout, finishing in 46:58 — steady and untroubled. But 3rd and 4th came down to a late-race duel. Kendall Kramer, who made the trip down from Anchorage, AK, entered the final segment in 5th among women and exited it in 4th overall among women — her 2nd-fastest women's split on KT 22→Finish was enough to pass Sydney Petersen of Crested Butte, CO, who faded one spot to 5th. The margin between Kramer (48:14) and Petersen (48:22)? Eight seconds.

Jenna Gigliotti of Amherst, MA rounded out the top five in 48:53, posting the 6th-fastest women's closing split — a solid effort from the only East Coast athlete in the top five.
