Men's Iron Crown: Rocha leads wire-to-wire for a dominant triple

Juan Rocha had the men's Iron Crown settled almost from the gun. His IFC leg of 1:00:39 — 2nd-fastest on that opening stage across the entire field — gave him the cumulative lead immediately, and he extended it at every checkpoint. By the time the 46K was done, he sat 1:09:17 clear of Olivier Francon in 2nd. The 23K only widened the gap further, leaving Rocha's 9:31:26 total in a class of its own among the 13 men who finished.

The battle for the podium was more closely contested. Francon (49, Albany) was the steadiest of the challengers, sitting 2nd after the IFC and never surrendering that spot — his 10:51:41 total was a comfortable 25:54 clear of 3rd. Yann Schnorhk (34, Dublin) made his move on the 46K, posting the 95th-fastest leg time on that stage to overtake William Nguyen and lock up 3rd in 11:17:35. Nguyen, who had been 3rd after the IFC, slipped to 4th as a 7:19:23 46K leg proved costly.

The most dramatic individual arc belonged to Ockerbloom. He clocked the 6th-fastest IFC split in the field — 1:25:38 — to sit 3rd overall after the opener, looking like a genuine podium threat. But a 9:10:20 on the 46K (286th on that leg) dropped him all the way to 9th, where he finished. Meanwhile, Simon Boag (60, Crystal Bay) took the opposite trajectory: his 2:25:45 IFC put him in last place at that checkpoint, yet he rallied through the back two legs to finish 8th. In a field where the Iron Crown demands consistency across very different terrain, Rocha's ability to be fast early and steady late was the decisive edge.
