  • Alyana Chavez won in 45:06 (7:16/mi), climbing from 3rd at the 1-mile mark to take the lead in the final segment.
  • Brooklyn Wake, just 14 years old, led wire-to-wire until the closing stretch, finishing 2nd in 45:09 — a massive leap from her 6th-place, 47:53 finish at this same race in 2025.
  • Alison Bartosch (4th, 46:07.03) and Monique Mueller (5th, 46:07.15) were separated by just 0.12 seconds at the line.
  • Hailey Fernandez surged from 9th at the mile mark to finish 3rd in 46:06, posting the 3rd-fastest split on the 5K-to-5.2M segment.

Cool, breezy conditions in Fresno — 53°F with a 13 mph wind — set the stage for fast early miles, and Brooklyn Wake took full advantage. The 14-year-old from Clovis shot to the front of the women's field and held that lead through the 1-mile mark, the 5K, and deep into the back half of the race. Her 2025 result here (47:53, 6th) showed real promise; this year she came back and made it a genuine title fight, ultimately finishing 2nd in 45:09. That's a 2:44 improvement in a year, and she ran at the front of a 514-woman field for most of it.

Alyana Chavez, though, had other plans. Running 7:16/mi, the 20-year-old from Fresno was 3rd through the opening mile, posted the 2nd-fastest women's split from the 1-mile mark to 5K, and kept climbing. By the final segment she had overtaken Wake and crossed the line in 45:06 — three seconds clear, and enough to claim the win.

The battle for the podium produced one of the race's best sub-plots. Hailey Fernandez was 9th at the mile mark but ran the 3rd-fastest women's split on the 5K-to-5.2M stretch to vault into 3rd at 46:06. Right behind her, Alison Bartosch (46:07.03) and Monique Mueller (46:07.15) were effectively racing in the same second — Mueller had the 2nd-fastest women's split on that same late segment but couldn't quite reel in Bartosch, who held 4th by 0.12 seconds.

Nicole Nast rounded out the top six in 47:07, while Patricia Cruz — 8th here in 2025 with a 49:37 — crossed in 49:44 to take 10th, a consistent return to Fresno for the 44-year-old.
