The 46-year-old crossed the line in 20:21, running 6:33 per mile through the fog to win the women's 5K in a field of 666 finishers. It wasn't close at the front: second-place Brooke Bray, a local San Franciscan, finished in 20:40 — a solid 6:39/mi — but Gottlieb had already built a gap that Bray couldn't close.

Behind that leading pair, the race opened up into a genuine battle. Tiffany Chen (22:30, 7:15/mi) held off Priscille Sam (22:44) and Paola Soto (22:56) for the final podium spot, with just 26 seconds separating 3rd through 5th place. The most eye-catching performance in that cluster belonged to Buhee Han — at 59, she ran 22:59 to claim 6th, outpacing a clutch of younger competitors and finishing just 13 seconds behind Soto.

The middle of the top ten brought its own drama. Sarah Fadamitan (8th, 23:31) and Alyssa Del Bene (9th, 23:46) gave way to the race's closest finish: Del Bene and Maria Lara both stopped the clock at 23:46, with Del Bene holding 9th by a sliver of timing precision. Just beyond them, Princesa Pabalan (11th, 24:18) through Astrid Lainez (20th, 25:45) rounded out a competitive top 20 spread across barely more than two minutes of racing.
