Gladys Yator owned this race early. The 30-year-old from Toledo ran the fastest women's 5K→10K split and held the lead through the first 25 kilometers — a patient, commanding front-running effort. But somewhere between 25K and 30K, the race turned. Yator slipped from 1st to 2nd, then 4th, and ultimately 5th in 2:39:54, her 6:06/mi average telling the story of a pace that couldn't be sustained all the way to Saint Paul.

While Yator faded, the real drama was unfolding behind her. Kim Conley, the 36-year-old from Flagstaff, had been quietly threading her way through the field — running the fastest women's split on the 15K→20K segment and surging all the way to 1st place by the 30K mark. For a stretch, this looked like Conley's race. But she couldn't hold it either, sliding back to 3rd by the finish in 2:35:42.

The woman who capitalized was Jessica Watychowicz. The 31-year-old from Colorado Springs spent the first 30 kilometers sitting patiently in 5th place, then struck. Her fastest women's split on the 20K→25K segment was the decisive move, and she climbed steadily — 4th, 2nd, then 1st — never relinquishing the lead once she seized it. She crossed in 2:33:08, running 5:50 per mile through the Chain of Lakes and along the Mississippi to take the win. Bridget Belyeu, who had run a remarkably consistent race from 2nd place nearly wire-to-wire, finished a strong runner-up in 2:35:17.

Behind the top five, Maddie Van Beek (6th, 2:43:06) and Hannah Becker (7th, 2:48:16) led a deep women's field of 2,791 finishers — a fitting turnout for a course that has earned its reputation as one of America's most beautiful urban marathons.
