Monica Delgado had the home crowd on her side and made the most of it. The Long Beach native ran a composed 7:57/mi to finish in 3:28:22 — a margin that tells its own story. Her gender place bounced from 19th at the opening split to 69th at the halfway mark before she surged back to 33rd and held 32nd at the finish, a trajectory that shows early restraint rewarded by a powerful second half. Her 20th-fastest women's split on the 13.1M→20M stretch was the move that mattered most.

Rina Fernett (Del Valle, TX) ran the most interesting tactical arc of the rest of the field. She was 27th among women at the first checkpoint and climbed to 25th through the half — posting the 29th-fastest women's split on that 5.5M→13.1M stretch — but then steadily gave back positions, sliding to 43rd and eventually 59th among women by the finish. She crossed in 3:36:35, a full 8:13 behind Delgado and 7:45 ahead of third-place Lori Ye (Redondo Beach, CA, 3:44:20), who tracked a similar fade but held on for the final podium spot.

The real drama of the day played out just outside the top four. Carolina Aldana-Holguin (La Puente, CA) was buried in the women's field — 268th — at the opening split, but ran herself all the way to 155th by the finish, posting the 123rd-fastest women's split on the 20M→finish stretch to claim 5th in 3:55:32. She just barely held off Bertha Huizar (Menifee, CA), who crossed one second later in 3:55:33 for 6th. Magdalena Replinska, who made the trip from Trzebinia, Poland, was only 10 seconds further back in 7th (3:55:42), capping a tight three-way finish that separated three athletes by less than a quarter-minute. In a 67-finisher F45-49 field running in 72°F humidity on the Long Beach streets, that cluster made for one of the afternoon's best sub-stories.
