Germany's Florian Bochert, 24, came to San Francisco and immediately made his mark. His 32:47 — at a 5:17/mi clip — doesn't just top the men's field by 35 seconds; it undercuts Linus Rueegger's 2024 winning time of 33:09 by 22 seconds. In 57°F fog with near-saturated air, Bochert held the men's lead wire-to-wire and closed with the 2nd-fastest split on the 4.62M-to-finish segment among all men — a controlled, dominant performance from start to line.

Nicolas Mugnier of Mios was the one man who could make the closing miles interesting. He posted the single fastest men's split on that final stretch, but the gap Bochert had built was too wide to bridge; Mugnier crossed in 33:22 for a strong runner-up finish. The more dramatic story unfolded just behind them: Jason Hoang, the local San Francisco runner, was sitting 5th at the 4.62-mile mark before unleashing the 3rd-fastest closing split in the men's field to overtake both Alex Zauner (34:57) and Troy Martig (35:10) and claim 3rd in 34:47. Zauner and Martig, who had been running 3rd and 4th respectively, faded just enough to let Hoang through — a genuine late-race reshuffling in the fight for the podium.

Further back, 40-year-old Aaron Allbritton of San Leandro ran 35:16 at 5:41/mi to lead the pack of veterans home, with 39-year-old Anton Bulyenov (35:30) and 38-year-old David Rogawski (35:43) close behind. Pontus Hellaker, 43, of Sweden turned in a composed 36:57 to finish 13th among 1,881 men, with fellow 43-year-old Alan Thong right on his heels at 37:14. In a men's field this deep, those are performances worth noting.
