Steph Bruce, 41, from Flagstaff, ran a tactically precise race in Poipu's warm, humid morning air. She sat in 2nd through the opening 6.55 miles and the first half, then made her move. From the halfway point onward she held the lead wire-to-wire, her 6:25/mi average telling the story of a controlled, confident effort. The gap she built was decisive: nearly five minutes separated her from Numata at the line.

Kana Numata led the women's field through the first half, clocking the 2nd-fastest women's split on the 6.55-to-halfway segment. She couldn't match Bruce's second-half pace but ran a composed 2:53:07 to claim a clear runner-up finish — more than 41 minutes ahead of 3rd place, underscoring just how much daylight there was at the front of this race.

The battle for 3rd through 6th was a different story entirely. Maria Cicio (4th, 3:36:35) was the biggest mover in that group, climbing from 7th at the first checkpoint all the way to 4th by the finish, aided by the 4th-fastest women's split on the opening segment. Rachael Smith (5th, 3:37:45) had run 3rd at halfway before fading slightly. And then there was Seven Tudor — 16 years old, from Telluride — finishing 6th in 3:37:52, just seven seconds behind Smith. At an age when most runners are still finding their footing, Tudor crossed the line in Kaua'i's heat and humidity with a result that stands on its own.
